The director's locked-room horror stands strong without requiring a sequel. Located in 1978 Denver, several child abductions has rendered the children on edge. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for Mammon in Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals commence monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, bad makeup and hypocrisy, yet the lead actress achieves to show the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
